Allotted to set up an industry in Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area, the units are still empty and unused till date. Hence the State Industries department have issued notices and the government has asked over 4000 units to handed over back to them .

Industry minister, Subash Desai said, “As on May 19, we acquired over 1,200 plots and others will get back soon, may be in the next 4-6 months.” Over 1.5 lakh MIDC plots were given to an entrepreneur all over the states in cities like Mumbai, thane, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Satara, Sangli, Ratnagiri, etc. Most of them are in process of sanctioning a loan from bank, but over 4000 plots are lying unused. Once the government gets back the plots, they will re-distribute it by inviting tender.

However, to make sure the same problem doesn’t occur again, the government will ask the buyers to give a written undertaking saying that they will set up an industry in stipulated period of time or else the government has the right to take the plot back anytime.
